This assignment aims to familiarize students with the concept of Organization design and its key structural elements. It will help students redesign an organizational structure while working on different organizational needs. Premise: United Sol founded in 2005 has been considered the pioneer in E-Commerce development in Pakistan working on multiple projects. One of the leading causes of earning a more outstanding market position is well defined organization design/structure. Recently United Sol’s market position has declined due to several factors. Managers in this organization divided the tasks into smaller units to focus on their job. Still, employees feel boredom, fatigue, stress and sometimes have poor quality work. According to today’s complex and innovative tasks, organization lacks new techniques of departmentalization, leading to poor productivity and customer complaints. Subordinates can communicate to only one boss, thus creating a challenging situation when any problem occurs, as the work always gets delayed resulting in wastage of time and money. Lower-level employees are always expected to deliver the desired results according to what top managers assign them without taking care of their needs, which creates a sense of inferiority/complex. Employees’ behavior is guided by strict rules and regulations as they have little discretion over what’s done, when it’s done and how it’s done. Keeping the above scenario, United Sol has to redesign its organizational structure to recapture the lost market position. Identify five key structural elements in this scenario and provide justifications/reasoning to redesign the structure. Requirements: 1.
